WRINKLE RELAXING INJECTIONS

Our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioners use well known wrinkle relaxing injectables such as Botox, Bocoture and Azzalure.

Botulinium Toxin has been used for over 20 years for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. Small amounts of the product are injected into the muscle, blocking the nerve impulse and so relaxing the muscle.

Treatment of the upper face include Glabella (between the brows), forehead and crows feet.  It can also be used to reduce the appearance of ‘bunny lines’ on the ridge of the nose and ‘smokers lines’ on the upper lip.

Please contact us to discuss any treatment or to book a no-obligation appointment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do they work?

They work by blocking the nerve impulse in the muscle cells.  This leads to relaxation of the muscles.

When will I see the results?

The muscles start to relax within 3 – 5 days, most people see optimum effects after about 14 days

How long will the results last?

It will last for about 3 – 4 months, you will then see a return of your fine lines and wrinkles. Most clients find that after the first year of regular injections they require less frequent treatments. This is because our muscles learn to frown less severely and so lines are minimised.

Does it hurt?

The needles used are very fine and so it is rare for it to be painful. Most clients say that they feel a small stinging sensation or discomfort.

Are there any side effects?

Some clients have slight transient bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site, which can be managed by applying a cool compress or make-up. Occasionally you may experience a mild headache which can be treated with something like paracetamol.

Very rarely the muscle relaxant may migrate to nearby muscles causing slight drooping of the eyelid, but these instances are very rare and always reversible.

Is there anything I can’t do after my treatment?

We advise that you avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol and lying flat for the first 4 hours after the treatment. Otherwise you can carry on your activities as normal.  Your aesthetic nurse will give you comprehensive advice.

Can anyone have these injections?

There are people who should not have the treatment, which is why all of our clients will have a full assessment beforehand. It is not suitable for the following groups of people:

  • if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • if you have been diagnosed with a neuromuscular condition such as Myasthenia Gravis
  • if you are taking certain types of medications including antibiotics erythromycin and azithromycin
