HYPERHIDROSIS (excessive sweating)

Many people suffer from excessive sweating of the under arms, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. This can be debilitating and cause embarrasment. Treatment involves a special test to determine the areas of sweating and then injections of Botox to the affected area.

At TLC we treat any of these areas with Botulinium Toxin (Botox, Azzalure or Bocouture).  Treatments can last between 4 – 8 months depending on the individual.

The picture below shows the sweat glands show up as black in the top picture which was taken before the procedure. The bottom picture was taken 2 weeks after treatment and shows how the sweat glands have been inactivated.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does Botox treat hyperhidrosis?

Botox is injected into the effected area. It blocks the impulse from the nerve to the sweat glands so that they stp producing sweat. The effect is temporary, the body slowly develops new nerve pathways.

How long will it last?

Typically lasts 4-8 months depending but this varies from person to person.

Is the treatment painful?
Treatment in the armpits is virtually painless.
Palms are more sensitive therefore topical pain relief can be administered , your practitioner will discuss this with you before your treatment.

What is the brown stuff (iodine) used for?

This is applied to highlight the area containing the sweat glands, this means the botox can be applied to the exact area

How soon will I see results?

You will start to see results in a few days and it will usually be working completely after 2 weeks.
