4 Times You Should Not Have Botox
Wrinkle relaxing injections such as Botox, Bocouture and Azalure are an effective way to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. However, there are certain times when it isnn't appropriate to have the treatment. These are:
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding - Cosmetic treatments such as Botox or Dermal Fillers are contra-indicated when pregnant or breastfeeding. There have been no studies to determine the safety of injectables on the unborn child or whether it passes through breast milk. Its far better to be safe than sorry.
- When you don't need to have it - Botox can certainly be used as a preventative to slow down the development of lines and wrinkles. However, if your skin is perfect and line free there is no reason to start having it. Legally you must be 18 years old but generally most people dont need Botox untill their late 20's or early 30's.
- Too close to a big event - Botox takes up to 2 weeks to work effectively. So plan ahead and when you have an important event have your treatment at least 2 weeks beforehand. Then you can be certain it will be working. Also, there is always a risk of bruising, waiting a couple of weeks gives any bruises time to recover.
- If your skin is 'saggy' or lacking in volume - Botox relaxes muscles so preventing movement. What it dosnt do is improve fullness or tighten the skin. If this is your problem then Dermal Fillers will probably be a more appropriate treatment for you.
When choosing to have any Cosmetic Treatment the consultation is probably the most important part of the process.
